4 reasons why we love Winter Weddings

4 reasons why we love Winter Weddings

In Australia, most couples choose to get married in spring, summer or autumn, with fewer couples opting to say ‘I do’ in winter.  But at The Hint Registry, we love winter weddings!  Here are just a couple of reasons why:

Extra romantic

When it is cold outside, we all want to cuddle up that little bit closer to our partner and what better day for this than your wedding.  Add to this, the possibility of creating an even more romantic mood with a gorgeous fire in your reception venue, candles as far as the eye can see and deep, jewel colour themes.  Your guests will be swooning.

More flexibility and savings

One of the frustrations of planning a wedding is often that your dream venue or preferred vendor has already been booked.  Especially if you have chosen to get married on a ‘super Saturday’ in December or January.

With fewer weddings taking place in winter, this is much less likely to be a problem.  You are likely to have your pick of photographer, florist, celebrant, make-up artist and other suppliers.

In addition, many venues (and some other suppliers) will offer discounted rates or reduce their minimum spend during winter.  This may mean you can select a venue you hardly dared to dream about!

Dresses and jackets

We love a wedding dress with long sleeves, for extra elegance and glamour.  But this can be risky in any season other than winter.  Australian weather can be unpredictable and you might find yourself sweltering in those sleeves on a spring day!

Winter weddings also call for sophisticated outerwear.  Be it a striking jacket, an elegant faux fur or classic cape, this is another chance to express your bridal-style.

Honeymoon options

As we all know, when it is winter in Australia, it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere.  And that means that after your special day, you can jet off to bask in the beautiful sun in Europe or North America.  No need to delay the honeymoon until the weather clears up overseas.  What more could newlyweds ask for.
